Is there an income or earnings cut-off to qualify for SEAI grants?

For most SEAI home energy grants, there is no income limit. These grants are open to all homeowners, including landlords and private tenants, provided the property meets eligibility criteria (such as being built before a certain year).
However, fully funded upgrades under the Warmer Homes Scheme do have income requirements and are reserved for those receiving certain social welfare payments.

Are there extra supports for people on social welfare or with disabilities?

Yes. If you receive one of the following payments, you may be eligible for free energy upgrades under the Warmer Homes Scheme:

What does the SEAI Home Energy Grant not cover?

Does the SEAI home energy grant cover electric cars or EV chargers?

SEAI grants do not cover:

How do I find an SEAI-registered contractor?

Does the SEAI grant cover solar panels

Yes — SEAI grants cover Solar PV (photovoltaic) panels, which generate electricity for your home and reduce your reliance on the grid. The grant can help with:

Installing solar PV panels
A battery storage system (if needed)
A BER assessment after installation

Important*** You cannot purchase your own solar equipment (e.g. from Amazon or another retailer) and claim the grant afterward — even if a registered installer fits it. The grant only applies when both product and service are supplied as part of a verified SEAI grant project.

Does the SEAI grant cover wind generators?

Wind turbines or wind generators are not covered under SEAI’s current home energy grant schemes. Solar PV is the primary supported technology for microgeneration at the household level.
