The Renewable Energy Information Office is a national service of the Irish Energy Centre, established to
facilitate the penetration of renewable energy resources into the energy market and provide independent advice and
information on financial, social,
policy and technical issues relating to renewable energy development.
In order to achieve its objectives, the office, based in Bandon, Co. Cork,
- operates a helpdesk informed from a comprehensive library of relevant materials and publications.
- publishes a regular newsletter, Energy Update, information brochures, posters and contact sheets.
- maintains a database of relevant parties in Ireland who have a key role to play in the further growth of the renewable energy industry.
- organises conferences and workshops to highlight the barriers to renewable energy development.
- chairs and facilitates working groups to move towards consensus on grid connection and land use planning issues relating to renewable energy.
- assumes a transnational role through the exchange of information with organisations abroad and co-operating with and participating in international activities.
- promotes and administers a Renewable Energy Feasibility Study Grant Scheme.
